Blaster Master 2 was created by the now defunct Software Creations, who obtained the license from Sunsoft to create this game for the Sega Genesis, and it was published in 1993. According to the Summer/Winter CES coverage in the March and August 1992 issues of Nintendo Power an unreleased port was in development for the SNES.[1] Sunsoft of Japan, which produced the original version of Blaster Master, MetaFight, was completely unaware of this game's existence. The game underwent a major facelift, with detailed graphics and a few new play modes. The main sidescrolling view remained intact, but the top-down chambers view was replaced with a larger and more detailed sidescrolling view of Jason. There's also a top-down view where only S.O.P.H.I.A. can be used.
Story[]
Four years have passed since the events of Blaster Master. Jason kept Sophia 3rd in a barn during that time. However, one day, a bolt of lightning struck the barn, destroying Sophia 3rd and scattering parts that were soon scavenged. Jason soon discovers that more Lightning Beings are present, and are aiming to drive Earth off its axis, and thus destroying all life. Jason reassembles Sophia into S.O.P.H.I.A. and starts his quest to destroy the mutants again.
Trivia[]
- According to an interview with the background artist for the game, Martin Holland, there were unused graphics for a cut bike for Jason, as well as a girlfriend/partner who would have given him hints and tips when walking around outside of S.O.P.H.I.A.[2]
